the ΔΕΗ International Tour of Hellas

The official race stages presentation of the 2023 edition is due to take place
on Thursday, March 2 in Faliron

Preparations for the 2023 edition of the ΔΕΗ International Tour of Hellas are in full swing. Details about the upgraded by UCI to Category 2.1 race, will be revealed on Thursday, March 2, at 1 pm by the Deputy Minister of Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis and the members of the Organising Committee (Cycling Greece) at the ΔΕΗ ΑΗΣ in Faliron.

Greece’s dynamic return to the international cycling stage, after ten years of absent was welcomed with words of praise by all teams that participated at the 2022 race.

Following the success of the 2022 edition many more cycling teams were tempted to join the 2023 race, causing a… headache to the Organising Committee since there are only 20 available slots for the 2023 ΔΕΗ International Tour of Hellas which is due to take place in May.

Looking back at the 2022 Tour it is worth mentioning that local communities warmly welcomed the race and embraced the teams and the cyclists offering their support in all Regions and Municipalities the race went through - a scenario that is expected to be repeated this year as well.

“Last year we believed in it, worked hard and not only successfully brought back to life the International Tour of Hellas, but as an upgraded 2.1 cycling event in the UCI calendar as well”, said the Deputy Minister of Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis.

“For this year’s edition, we are building on the strong foundation we have created and aim to further develop it. We continue to highlight Greece's huge potential in hosting major sporting events, which - beyond the international sporting footprint - boost sports tourism and benefit local communities and the national economy.

“New routes have been planned, strong teams have confirmed their participation and now we are ready to announce all the relevant details.

“We won another bet in this electoral term! We had the task to lead Greece into a new era of extroversion and the ΔΕΗ International Tour of Hellas, like other events of a similar calibre, contributes to the push that the country needs in order to lead in an international environment, which generates greater challenges.

“The sports map in Greece is changing! The country is changing!”.
