The queen stage of this 2024 edition of the Tour, due to take place on May 17, will reward even the most demanding cycling fans, offering a spectacle similar to those of the Grand Tours!

The third stage of the ΔΕΗ International Tour of Hellas 2024 is the queen stage, the crown jewel of this year’s edition. With a length of 159,71 kilometers and an elevation of 4,528 m, the route from Karditsa to Velouchi is equivalent to those of the Grand Tours, while breathtaking images of the picturesque Lake Plastira and the Prefecture of Evrytania, will be broadcast all over the world through the TV coverage.

The riders will tackle a very challenging HC climb that ends in the finish line in Velouchi; a 12 km race with an average gradient of 8.5% and a maximum gradient of 15.3%! The ascend starts as soon as they reach Karpenissi.. Cycling fans will surely experience there the most decisive battle between the blue jersey contenders and those fighting to claim the orange jersey.

Velouchi or Tymfristos has an altitude of 2,315 m (the 16th highest mountain in Greece and fourth in Central Greece) and is covered by dense forests, mainly firs. Karpenisi is built on its slopes, while the Spercheios and Karpenisiotis rivers originate from the mountain. At Diavolotopos, where the stage ends and at an altitude of 1,858 meters, lies the first non-state-owned ski resort in Greece founded by individuals in 1974.
